About
Jerry W. Lindberg
I mowed lawns. I washed dishes. I worked at four small-town radio stations. I was fired from three of them. I worked at two television stations, an ad agency and a production house. I was a computer typesetter. I once ran a camera for a studio production of professional rasslin'. I went to college to get an education, got my "degree" but really only mastered how to drink beer and smoke pot in four years.
I was a singer in two rock and roll bands.
I had my heart broken, but found true love in spite of (or because of) the heartbreak.
I learned God's grace and mercy and made a promise to Him that I would never turn my back on the faith.
In 1983 I married my best friend.
In 1986 I took a job as a father to a baby boy. In 1991 I repeated the accomplishment for a baby girl. I have since learned these positions have no sunset clause, which is fine because it led me to currently being grandpa to five precious grandkids.
I was a debt collector, then a credit manager and then placed on an endless conveyor belt of Inside Sales positions which ended in 2011 by being asked to leave the premises and not come back.
So, I drove a school bus and saw public education from the driver's seat of a large orange behemoth. I became highly cynical of the money pit we know as public education.
Through it all, I wrote. I was a columnist, a sports reporter, a commentator and blogger. I was once offered a job as a public school teacher by a school superintendent who wanted me to write nice things about him for the local paper. I couldn't do it. I shook his hand and left.
I kept writing because God gave me that gift.
I took a job as a courier and discovered no one was telling me what to do. Not having someone watching my every moment was its own perk and I relished it.
I agreed to umpire girls softball and did so for 16 years.
I quit drinking (for real) around this time and only relapsed every Easter season when I would take Communion wine twice a week during Holy Week. My wife now calls it Binge Week.
I discovered being sober was liberating. It didn't require a mask.
I kept writing because God had given me that gift.
I wrote a book in 2007 and another in 2012.
In 2026 I wrote my third novel, a collection of Christian short stories. Which brings me to today. What has life taught me about the Truth? Here it is: Pray. Pray frequently and without ceasing.
Here's my prayer for you: I pray you find God's direction is your sole pursuit. God richly bless you and provide you with the light and wisdom to become light and wisdom to every person in your orbit.
